Psittacus erithacus erithacus
PSITTACUS CATALONIA breeding centre hosts exclusively African grey parrots (Psittacus erithacus erithacus), also known as grey parrots. All of our grey parrots are originally from the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The African greys that belong to the populations of this region are the largest in size and body weight of the species.

The species Psittacus erithacus erithacus has been included in Appendix I of the CITES. All our birds are correctly marked and registered in CITES and have their corresponding individual CITES document.

The various centres that make up Psittacus Catalonia's parrot breeding activity are managed by a multidisciplinary team made up of experts in nutrition, biology, ethology, zootechnics and veterinary clinic.

Environment and dietالبيئة والغذاء
Regarding the environmental conditions of our breeding centre, and even though it is a closed facility, we encourage the birds to follow the breeding cycle that our Mediterranean climate allows. We achieve the correct ventilation in an exclusively natural way. During the winter we avoid the temperature dropping excessively, while on the hottest days of summer we try to ensure that the temperature does not exceed 30 ºC. We have established a lighting programme that suggests the conditions of daylight hours and light intensity typical of the latitudes of origin of the African grey parrot, and we have also applied soundproofing systems and improvements to the acoustic environment.
فيما يتعلق بالظروف البيئية لمركز التربية لدينا، ورغم أنه منشأة مغلقة، فإننا نشجّع الطيور على اتباع دورة التكاثر التي يسمح بها مناخنا المتوسطي. ونحقق التهوية الصحيحة بطريقة طبيعية بالكامل. وفي الشتاء نمنع انخفاض درجة الحرارة بشكل مفرط، بينما نحرص في أشد أيام الصيف حرارة على ألا تتجاوز 30 درجة مئوية. كما وضعنا برنامج إضاءة يحاكي عدد ساعات النهار وشدة الضوء المعتادة في خطوط العرض التي ينحدر منها الببغاء الرمادي الأفريقي، وطبّقنا أنظمة عزل صوتي وتحسينات على البيئة الصوتية.
The basis of their diet is our complete maintenance and breeding foods, the PSITTACUS registered trademark. The food is always at their disposal, and with this we guarantee the adequate supply of the required nutrients at each time of the year. In addition to the food, two to three days a week, we provide them with a mix of seasonal fruits and vegetables (some of them grown in our own garden).
أساس غذائها هو أغذيتنا المتكاملة للصيانة والتكاثر من العلامة التجارية المسجّلة PSITTACUS. والغذاء متاح لها دائمًا، وبذلك نضمن الإمداد الكافي بالعناصر الغذائية المطلوبة في كل وقت من السنة. وإلى جانب الغذاء، نقدّم لها يومين إلى ثلاثة أيام في الأسبوع مزيجًا من الفواكه والخضروات الموسمية (بعضها مزروع في حديقتنا الخاصة).
Due to health reasons and for the tranquility of our animals, the breeding centre is closed to the public and visits are not permitted.لأسباب صحية وحرصًا على راحة حيواناتنا، فإن مركز التربية مغلق أمام الجمهور ولا يُسمح بالزيارات.
